Getaway to San Diego

Have you ever wished for something and it happened? Well, that’s exactly what happened to me and it brought a favorable outcome.

After overwhelming workloads and a lack of balance between my work and personal life, I was in dire need of getting away. ⍨ My friend- Tiffany invited me to come with her to San Diego for her cousins’ wedding and voila! I took the chance and went.

For those who don’t know.. I’m a native Californian ;)

San Diego…Known for its pristine beaches and relaxed coastal lifestyle it's no wonder people of all walks of life gravitate to this area.

Here’s everything we did:

21st of April ❀

Our flight came in around 8:50pm. My friend's uncle dropped us off in front of the Airbnb and we checked in. Our hosts Rodrigo and Alejandra were kind and accommodating. The Airbnb was absolutely stunning and clean. Around 10:20pm I used the app ‘Slice’ to place an order for Little Italy Pizzeria and Pasta. After that, we went straight to bed.

22nd of April

Visited Little Italy and ate breakfast at Morning Glory. I ordered the souffle pancakes and my drink of choice was the London Fog latte. We then walked around the Mercato Farmers’ Market and shortly headed back to the Airbnb for some rest. The rest of the evening was spent at the wedding at the Bali Hai Restaurant.

23rd of April ❀

Our morning was spent in Old Town and yes it’s actually a town that’s old… but filled with so many rich and historic sites. The well-preserved area showcases the city with Mexican architecture, restaurants, and museums. Stopped by Cousin’s Candy Shop and purchased the Mexican dark chocolate **delicioso ;)). Then we made our way to Liberty Public Market for brunch. I got a veggie burrito.

Towards the evening, we arranged for a picnic at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. The park is along the Pacific Ocean coastline and is known for its stunning panoramic views of the dramatic cliffs and ocean. Our host, Meghan, was so detail oriented and her personality was warm. We were in for a treat of a lifetime. This was by far my favourite part of the trip.

24th of April ❀

Spent the morning once again in Old Town and ate breakfast at Hungry’s Kitchen & Tap. I ordered vegetable tacos with a side of hash browns and my drink of choice was hot chocolate. I also went back to grab some more chocolate for my family and later that day we dressed up in our best gowns and had a photoshoot at Balboa Park. Balboa Park is home to various museums, gardens, and theaters. After our shoot, we had dinner at the Yasai on Convoy Street. I ordered the vegan bao buns and let me tell you– I was in love. I spent a week dreaming about them. Afterwards, I called for a Lyft and we sat in a Tesla and it was an interesting experience.

A few pointers ✻

↣ San Diego was chilly when I visited. Pack appropriately as the weather does tend to fluctuate.

↣ If you are allergy prone as I am, don’t forget to take antihistamines and be transparent but respectful with the waiters/waitresses if you have any concerns.

↣ Balboa Park is vast. Prepare to dedicate one full day to exploring the diverse range of attractions it has to offer!
